Celebrating the Transit of Venus

On June 6, 2012, planet Venus will pass in front of the SUN as seen from the Earth. It is one of the most promising celestial events of 2012.

To celebrate the Transit of Venus the Australian High Commission in Delhi will partner with the Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library to showcase a special 3D film Coral-Rekindling Venus created by Australian artist Lynette Wallworth.

The film will be screened from 6 to 18 June at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 5 pm (Tuesday to Sunday) Free workshops around the theme will be available to children from 5-14 years of age. The tentative schedule for the workshop programme is given below:

• Art workshop- 7 and 14 June
• Storytelling and creative writing – 9 and 15 June
• Science related workshop – 8 and 12 June

Students need to register with the Australian High Commission for the free workshops. Workshop will be on first come first serve basis.
